Traditions That Are Uniquely Ours

Sometimes that means going against what’s expected.

I love making traditions that feel like ours, and sometimes that means going against what’s expected. Like St. George for Halloween, and Chinese food for Thanksgiving.

Last fall, right in the middle of building our home, we needed a breather. So for Halloween we packed up, headed south to St. George, and rented a house. We swam, did a bit of trick-or-treating, and mostly just soaked up the red rocks and the warm air.

We loved it so much that we did it again this year. There was flag football with friends and family, lots of pool time, a football game, a movie night, plenty of The Voice, good food, and of course some trick-or-treating.

The best traditions don’t have to look like anyone else’s. They just have to feel like home to the people you love. 🤎

Letters from the porch

Pull up a chair.

Every so often I’ll write you a letter. A recipe, a tradition we’re trying, whatever magic (or glorious mess) happened at our table that week. No lectures, nothing salesy, just a friend waving from the porch.
