We had a lot of low points while building this house, if I’m being honest.
The cost of everything skyrocketed after we secured our loan, and work slowed down tremendously. There were moments when we genuinely didn’t know how we were going to make it through.

We always planned to build this house ourselves. We just didn’t realize that would mean literally building almost every single bit of it ourselves. 😂

We rolled up our sleeves and took on more and more of the work, and when we couldn’t do it alone, friends and family showed up with a kindness and generosity we’ll never forget.

But the truth is, this house came to be through an abundance of prayers, miracles, and the grace of God.
We started this journey because we genuinely felt led to do it. And there were times when that feeling was the only thing keeping us going.
It took a lot out of us. In some ways, we’re still recovering.

But somewhere in the middle of all that uncertainty, we came to know God in a way I don’t think we ever could have otherwise.
Not just to believe in Him, but to KNOW Him.
To know that He is still a God of miracles. That He still parts seas and moves mountains. That the impossible is not impossible to Him.
And the funny thing is, I still don’t know all the whys behind this house. Why we felt so strongly that we needed to build it, or what exactly we built it all for.
I believe He knows.
And I’ve learned to trust Him, even when that trust involves falling to my knees and having some pretty honest conversations with Him about how things are going.
Because faith doesn’t mean we never question or fear what’s ahead. Sometimes it simply means being willing to keep walking through the unknown and coming back to Him, again and again.
I believe in a God who loves His children. Who sees us in our struggles and still works miracles in our lives.

I don’t know everything this house was meant to be.
But I know what building it taught me about Him.
And perhaps, for now, that’s enough.
Love, Rachel
